A variety of energetic phenomena on the Sun that vary cyclically in frequency and intensity over time. The most obvious cycle of change takes about 11 years, though there is also evidence for longer ones. Phenomena such as coronal mass ejections, flares, sunspots, prominences and faculae are manifestations of solar activity. See also: solar cycle. |
